Doctoral Candidate

Applied Educational Studies-Aviation & Space Education

A dual-degree graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Sherry began her career as the Director of Contract Security at Tulsa International Airport.  She advanced in contract administration at NMP Corp. managing almost $1 Billion in US Navy & foreign government subcontracts before returning to her first love—flying.  In 1998, she landed her dream career at Continental Airlines.

A staunch pilot advocate, Sherry served on the Air Line Pilots Association Security Committee after 9/11 helping co-workers entangled in the TSA’s “no-fly list.” As Membership Chair, she established the revered Honor Guard program.  Fellow pilots quickly recognized her leadership skills electing her First Officer Representative for one of the largest bases of ALPA pilots in the US.

Today, Sherry continues her pursuit of the truth as lead researcher.  She is focusing on Aviation Human Factors & Pilot Mental and Physical Health Certification.

Sherry & husband Brett, also a Captain, reside in Huntsville, TX, with their son, Henry, a baseball recruit who will attend Wheaton College next fall majoring in Political Science & Pre-Law.  She is also an Adjunct Professor at Indiana Wesleyan University’s Aviation Program and considers herself a Christian advocate who stands for people of all faiths.

Research Goals

In aviation, safety is the primary driving force of all research. Two years post-pandemic, presents the perfect opportunity to evaluate the industry’s actions and responses.

Just as with a pilot’s post-flight debrief, one must ask what we did right, what we could have been done better, and how we will improve in the future, as an industry.

Our Core Values

The quest for truth is our goal. This is a data-driven study, and the data must speak for itself.
